This is for my swap partners who feel
they need to know a little more about me. Of course I love crafts and crafting
and if you make something with skill it will always be appreciated. I enjoy
swapping because I love to make things, but don't know what to do with them
when I am done, plus it gives me a deadline to get things finished, because
without a deadline it could be ages before I finish.
If you have a unique and specific craft I would love to see it. I am always
interested in techniques I don't do. Please feel free to look around, check out my pictures, it will probably give you more insight into my personality and style.
Crafts I do: Mainly knitting and sewing including
patternmaking. I also dye, various dye techniques and fibers, shibori and other
resist techniques and of course yarn and roving for knitting. I dabble in
felting, and if it involves needlework techniques I probably have tried or
could easily learn. I have a drop spindle, but I think I am missing some basic
principle. If I could wake up knowing how to spin with the drop spindle and a
wheel I would totally have a new hobby, but I am afraid of looking like an idiot
and asking questions--personal idiosyncrasy. I guess because I really don't
know much about it and I know I don't know.
Crafts I don't do/want to learn: Resin, polymer clay, jewelry and
beading, glass pendants, silk screen, being able to create interesting
shapes/designs for silk screen and other dye/printing techniques.
Colors symbols style: I really like color, of all kinds. Pastels and
jewel tones, earth tones are there more tones? I probably like them.
Neon....well I guess I don’t like all colors. I don't wear black, but it has its
place. I do have a tendency to wear purples, blues and greens. As for symbols I
like interesting design and pattern, abstract or not, art nouveau, silhouettes,
nature-y, stripes and polka dots. And I guess vintage themes, Japanese themes,
I don’t like advertising on clothes, labels and that kind of “pop culture”
stuff, or bad “clever” sayings. Of course if I like it then that doesn’t
matter, I would wear some pop culture stuff and if it is a really good saying…I
am quiet and unassuming, I like it that way, but I also like to show that there
something more sarcastic and subversive under my innocent public image. I like
30’s, 40’s, 50’s style and clothing, especially women’s suits from the 1940’s,
but my “style” would be comfortable and easy and I do believe in 'from follows function' in design especially in clothing. So there is a tendency for me not to like say pockets in random places, if the pockets are there just to be "cool" and "different". Now if the pocket has a reason for being in an odd place then that is fine. Pockets are just an example, I don't have anything against pockets, they are very useful.
Personality: Quiet,
silly, intelligent, humor, slightly sarcastic, subversive, kind, responsible,
fun, minimalist
Interests/Collections: I am not much of a collector, but I do
collect craft books! New and vintage books, booklets, patterns, also vintage
fashion. I would love something from your locality a magnet maybe? I also love
socks. I wear colored socks all the time, but I also like socks with themes,
for holidays, different designs or anything fun if you have a place to get fun
socks or of course handmade socks.
Craftster Quilt: An
8” quilt block. I took this idea from catpants of making a quilt from different
people’s blocks. I think it would be great if the block had something to do
with craftster, general crafty-ness, or something about you or your location.
And if you have some way of nicely putting
your username and state/country that would be a great way to see the community
and variety of people that made the quilt.
Other: I am making cards to leave in the wild for people to find, so I am now interested in paper craft. If you have extra stamps, ephemera, decorative cut scissors....and books...to read and leave for Book Crossing.
